The Kingfisher is among the most beautiful birds of the lagoon. It doesn’t breed there, but the first individuals arrive already in July, and they stay until next April-May. More than 50 of them occupy the whole lagoon, where they defend their preferred perches from where they look for little fishes. They have a typical ringing voice that betrays their presence even before we can spot them in our binoculars.
