Flamingoes are wonderful birds that can be found allover the wetlands of Greece. They don’t breed in the country, and most of them come from France, Italy and Spain. Their numbers in Greece have increased dramatically in the last two decades, due to the increase of the population in Western Europe. It is expected that one day they will start breeding in our country too. They are present at the Gialova lagoon all year long, sometimes in large flocks of over 100 individuals.
